eevee, the de facto heroine of lo-fi by EDM.com, has become the genre’s shining star over the past 7 years. The 27 year old Dutch producer quickly gained international recognition from her beat tapes 1- 10 spanning the course of her career, which became a staple of her discography. Through the use of clever sampling, her SP404, and just the right amount of vinyl crackle, eevee quickly established a workflow that changed lo-fi forever. Numerous EP’s such as ‘unexpected’ and ‘seeds ep’ put eevee in the spotlight garnering support from Noisey, Vice, Revolt TV, and Nest HQ leading her to become one of the first touring lo-fi artists in 2017. As her career progressed into 2018, eevee began experimenting with different styles of lo-fi incorporating elements of wave music and trap into her beats while still maintaining her classic sound. This lead to yet another US tour of her ‘unknown ep’ alongside brothel. with the release of their collaboration, ‘p r e t t y’. She began her own label, secret souls, in the same year as a means of sharing her love of these styles of music releasing whatever she deems “has vibes” – a humble way of describing her unique and ever changing appreciation for music. With the onset of 2020 brings new changes, a baby boy, guiding eevee into the next phase of her story. As eevee settles into motherhood, she looks forward to leading the genre into the mainstream with producers such as Nosaj Thing and [bsd.u] as the “corps d’elite of Lo-Fi” as described by Roland. We watch with anticipation what boundaries will be broken next and how she will continue to morph the genre.
